1)      Do you think that this book will be interesting to read?

2)      Do you think that Crash will be a likeable character?

8)      What do you know about American football?  Do you think that it will be important to understand how the game is played to understand the story?
Homework
Find out the basic rules of American football.  How many players are there in a team and what are their roles?  What do they wear?  How are points scored and who scores them?  What is allowed and what behaviour is penalized? What are the main American football competitions and what do the cheerleaders do?  (You do not need to write the answers to these questions.)
Go to Youtube and look for ‘American football for newbees’.  In Wikipedia you will find basic information. Write a short paragraph about your impressions of American football.  Is it the sort of game you would like to play or watch?  Is it similar to any sport you have played or watched?  Is it easy or difficult to understand?  What sort of characteristics do you think make a good player?  Have you ever seen a real game?   Do you think a good football player would be a popular person in school? Chapter 1

2)      Why is he called Crash?

3)      Why did he knock down his cousin?

tall, short, thin, muscular, respectful, rude, happy, miserable, confident, timid, talkative, silent?

6)      The Penn Relays are a big racing competition – true or false?

7)      Why did Crash take such an instant dislike to Penn Webb?

a)      Because he was too happy and confident.

b)      Because he was skinny and badly dressed.

c)       Because he was invading Crash’s space.

8)      How many brothers and sisters did Penn have?

9)      Why do you think Crash told him that his name was Mergatroid?

10)   What did Crash do to get rid of Penn?  What do you think about this?

For Thursday 7th April: Remember to have a title and good props...as real as possible.

PROPS:
Remember what we said about having a real phone and not a cardboard with a phone painted on it or an invisible phone...which is more effective?

Obviously the real phone!!!....a phone painted on a cardboard does not look real!...Make sure your props are really shown what is written in the script!

    My teacher wrote a poem

                                                   By Eleanor Cosh

At long last my teacher wrote a poem.

    She asked me last week:

You have to write 3 poems

    One with rhyme and repetition

Another one with metaphors and similes

And another one with any figurative language you like!

    So I thought to myself:

Well, why doesn´t she try, if she thinks it is that easy?

And guess what!... I came into school this morning

    And got a big surprise

At long last my teacher wrote a poem!

And not only one… but three.

Oh how I wish it was me---PATIENCE

I still have to write my three!

    Patience
                   by Eleanor Cosh

Patience is like a tree in a crystal box

Although the wind blows exceptionally hard

    Its leaves remain static

    The tree is still intact

    Patience, a fast flowing river

    Of controlled emotions

    Embedded amongst the rocks

    Of our daily life

    Patience traps your undesirable feelings

Swallowing balls of fire, juggling tears

And frustration is defeated by a jester

    Foiling a wave of desperation

    Patience, an immense stairway

Leading to maturity in the soul.

Patience is captured by the silence of my heart

    Challenged in a daily adventure!

A nonsense moment of magical inspiration and impatience!
                                By Eleanor Cosh

Magical moments marvel me and you

In life magical moments are mutual

My magnificent moments are mine and

    Your magnificent moments are yours.

My miserable moments are mine and

    Your miserable moments are yours

    Motives for misunderstanding are many

    And mine are sometimes misunderstood

And as many misunderstand my motives,

    I may also misunderstand.

    Miserable moments move me

    Into a massive moody land.

Madness is a mad state of mind

And the mind is a state of madness

My madness is a misfortune but

My madness is a state of many

    Madness invades my mind

Making a mixture of muddled up, melancholic

    Magical moments that are mutual

And that marvel you and me
